2010 TOTC Classes & Training Schedule
TOTC trains on Tuesday & Thursday evenings beginning at 6:30 p.m.
All Puppy, Pet, Companion, Advanced Obedience & Rally Sessions are 6 classes
All Agility Sessions are 8 classes
TOTC trains at Lucky Dog Park, on County Road 1134 - the Old Chandler Hwy.
There is no pre-registration.
Fill out a Class Enrollment Form and bring it with you to the first class session.
On the first night of classes, please arrive 30 minutes before class time to register and acquaint your dog with surroundings.
Note that we've changed our class schedule in 2010!
All 2010 Puppy, Pet, Obedience & Rally classes are on Tuesdays and all Agility classes are on Thursdays!

Puppy Class: A puppy socialization class for dogs under 4 months of age. Class teaches owners how to communicate with, discipline and train their puppies and includes instruction on basic puppy behavior issues. Puppies are encouraged to play but are also taught basic obedience such as sit, down, stay and heel. Owners should bring a nylon or leather collar & leash and soft treats for training. A 6 week class that entitles the pup to earn the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppysm distinction.

Pet Class: A basic dog manners class. An all on leash class that teaches basic obedience commands, such as heel, sit, down, stay and come. The owner learns the best methods of controlling the dog in various situations, how to be around other dogs and people, and how to get the dog to listen at all times. Training collars, 6’ leashes, and treats are recommended for better dog control. A 6 week class.

Companion: (Pet Class completion or CGC test completion on the dog is a prerequisite) Second level of obedience for people wanting to show their dogs in the obedience ring, or that wish to have more control over their dog. The class fine tunes the basic obedience commands and asks the dog for more accurate execution. Most of the class is on leash, but handlers may choose to work off leash. A 6 week class.

Advanced Obedience: (Companion Class completion or a Companion Dog title is a prerequisite) Class teaches advanced obedience exercises in preparation to show in the Open and Utility classes. Class is catered to the dogs and handlers needs in fine tuning their dog for the show ring. A 6 week class.

Novice Rally: (Pet Class completion, an obedience title or CGC test completion on the dog is a prerequisite) Introductory class to the sport of Rally. Handlers are taught the meaning of the rally signs, which they then practice with their dogs. A rally course is set up at the end of each class to practice the signs that were learned. All work is done on leash. Class prepares the handlers and dogs to compete in AKC Novice Rally classes. A 6 week class.

Advanced/Excellent Rally: (Novice Rally Class completion or an RN title on the dog is a prerequisite) Second level of Rally training. The advanced and excellent signs and exercises are taught in preparation for showing in the AKC Advanced and Excellent Rally classes. Most work is done off leash. A 6 week class.

Agility I - Beginning: (Pet Class completion or CGC test completion on the dog is a prerequisite) A starter agility class for all dogs that introduces the basic jumps and agility equipment to the dog and handler. Class can be done on or off leash. Class stresses dog motivation and the handler having fun with this sport. Treats and toys are recommended in class for dog motivation. An 8 week class.

Agility II - Novice: (Beginning Agility Class completion or prior agility training is a prerequisite) This class continues the work on the agility equipment and getting the dog comfortable doing each obstacle. Most of the work is done off leash. Handling techniques are introduced for more dog control and for the dog to start working away from the handler. An 8 week class.

Agility III - Intermediate: (Novice Agility Class completion is a prerequisite) This class continues to fine tune the handler’s skills in directing the dog on the agility course. Work is done all off leash. More complex courses are run to challenge the dog and the handler. An 8 week class.

Agility IV - Advanced: (Intermediate Agility Class completion or an Agility title on the dog is a prerequisite) This class is for the dogs and handlers who are currently showing their dogs in agility trials. It continues work on handling the dog from a distance and working with specific issues that the dog and handler are experiencing. An 8 week class.

Member "On Your Own" Training: A special time for TOTC club members to come out to Lucky Dog Park and train, not necessarily within a formal class. TOTC Members wanting to work on specific problems or use the facility to prepare their dog for an upcoming show may come out and work on your own and/or get advise from advanced members/mentors. There is no charge to TOTC Members. From time to time there will be organized workshops.
Canine Good Citizen Test Dates:

Canine Good Citizen Award: Tests are offered the week following the completion of each Pet Session. "CGC" is a program developed by the American Kennel Club that stresses responsible ownership and the importance of a well-mannered dog. Passing all 10 parts of the test entitles the dog to receive a frameable award certificate and the right to wear CGC emblems and tags. | Although training collars are not required, TOTC believes using these collars in Pet, Companion, Advanced Obedience and Rally classes will greatly assist you in your training. As a service, we offer slip chain training collars for $4, "toggle" slip chain collars for $10, 6' leads for $4, 15' leads for $10, and prong training collars for $20-$25. |
